This Statistic Really Troubles Me For Your Swimming!

Only 5.3% of our very popular new YouTube series are female (according to Google) - seems strange, no?

Take a lesson out of Kelly’s book…

Sometimes, when you're passionately firing out videos, tips and advice into the 'ether' it's hard to know if, how and why you're having an impact?

What is easier to see is the demographic you are reaching with all the whizz-bang stats these platforms can show you nowadays 🙋‍♂️ 🤷‍♀️

However, over the weekend I was troubled to see the stat above (heavily weighted towards the blokes 🧐). This is ironically from the very same video that Kelly Parker Palace - host of Apple's top-ranked swimming podcast - references in her letter above that helped her make that amazing improvement as a World Ranked #1 62 year old female swimmer:

It would appear that Dr. Google's stats suggest I'm clearly “off the mark” when it comes to engaging an inclusive audience though, and this concerns me. Luckily Kelly elected to watch all 37 minutes of that video and had the result that she did, but perhaps things aren't quite as engaging for you as they could be?

Ultimately, I just want to help as many people improve their swimming at whatever level, age, gender, background they might be (it is after all the whole ethos of our “Swim Types” system of coaching after all!).

So, here's your chance - whoever and wherever you are in the world and in your swimming journey - to provide me with some valuable feedback in which direction to nudge the Swim Smooth blog by completing our quick 7-minute survey.

We're still finding our feet as we re-engage with you all after the unfortunate hiatus, so this week, please let me know how we could be serving you better, because winning for me - like Kelly - is not actually at all about your prowess and the position you 'finish', but about the fact that you are inspired to swim regularly in the first place due to the myriad of other benefits swimming brings 👍.
